Tan Chuan Hong: Online census extended, please participate actively to reduce the risk of face-to-face infection!

Vice chairman of MCA Penang State and chairman of the Bagan Division, Tan Chuan Hong, urged the people do not cram themselves, and actively seize the opportunity of the government’s announcement to extend the online questionnaire survey (e-Census) to fill out the census online to reduce face-to-face census this will help to reduce the risk of contracting new coronary pneumonia.

He said that with the rebound of the coronavirus epidemic, the government announced the extension of the 2020 census, that is, the first phase of the online questionnaire survey from July 7 to September 30 has been extended to December 21.

"The second phase of the door-to-door census from October 7 to 24 will be extended to January 20 to February 6 next year."

He said this after visited Lai Keat and Bee See, whom house had caught fire few days ago located at Jalan Melur, Butterworth, to express his concern and deliver relief funds.

Tan Chuan Hong said as MCA assisted the Bureau of Statistics to publicize the recruitment of census takers in Seberang Perai Utara, Lim Jit Fong, the Division Chief of Publicity Bureau and census coordinator, recently received many calls from Malaysian Chinese indicating their intention to apply for census takers.

He is gratified as this is a commendable thing. After all, by applying government positions, Malaysian Chinese can better understand the operation of government agencies and change the stereotype that government agencies are all Malaysian Malay.

"Also, letting Malaysian Chinese census takers contact the Malaysian Chinese in same mother tongue and conduct the census meets the needs and can also make the entire census work more smoothly."

He emphasized that the census held every ten years is very important. It will allow the government to fully grasp the domestic population and housing data, and when formulating policies and plans, it can target the target groups to ensure that no one is left out in the flow of national development.
